Blending meat with different kind of vegetables already started around 2019 with blend burgers and vegetable mixed minced meat. A new segment to consumers and not completely understood at that time. It was completely overtaken by plant-based which was adopted by a growing group of vegans (5-10%) as well as the new group of consumers: flexitarians (20-30%). Especially these flexitarians are looking for a wider and especially tastier range of options that helps to tick the boxes:

  • Healthier: less salt, less fat, less ultra  processed, more vegetables
  • Planted proof: reduce CO2 impact, reduce resource, improve animal welfare

Footprint

Reduce the environmental footprint by using a blend, as mushrooms have a lower CO2 footprint compared to meat. Mushrooms use around 1/20 of the CO2 footprint of beef.
